Today was a VERY exciting day as we were able to tour Avery's new school for the 1st time. What an amazing school- a very lucky group of kids to be able to call this school home for the next 6 years!! We started easy, visiting the gym, cafeteria and the library before going to meet his new teacher. We were impressed by the line up of new Apple flat screen computers throughout the library but Avery was sold by ALL the books. It didn't take long before he found some about castles and it was then that he whispered to daddy, "I like big boy school!" Success!!
We met his teacher and checked out his new classroom. He was shy of course but managed to ask her if she gives lots of hard homework! Once she said no, he began to smile and then wanted to start working on his sight words right away. Never thought I would have to tell my child that he didn't have to work at school, wasn't even the 1st day!
Our last stop on the tour - the playground of course! He managed to try everything out but the monkey bars were his favorite. I have a feeling 11:30 everyday, recess, will be his favorite activity when he comes home from his 1st day! Bring on Monday!
