Fun Filled Weekend

Ah, Fall is here and Halloween is right around the corner. We started the weekend with a visit from Grammie Larson. We all went to watch Avery play soccer in the morning and straight home for a quick change before heading back out to the Magik Theater! What a gem we discovered downtown San Antonio. It's a old theater in historic Hemisphere Park that holds a new play every other month based on a popular children's storybook. The 1st play of the season was "Miss Nelson is Missing." We were able to get the book just in time to read the night before the play and Avery loved it. Being able to see it come to life on-stage was such a treat for the kiddos. Even Ella sat straight up on daddy's lap watching the entire show without making a sound. It was awesome and can't wait for the next one! To Avery's delight, they really expanded this year with trikes for the kids to ride, a tractor wagon pull, a pumpkin paint center, sack race etc. It was a great afternoon with fun had by all and of course, we picked up a few pumpkins to decorate as well!

Happy Birthday Aunt Stephers

"Cool" Aunt Stepher's birthday is today and we were able to celebrate with her and Andy in person this weekend! A quick trip- in Friday night and out Saturday afternoon but there was plenty of time for barbecue, cake and ice cream all the same! Avery showed Stephanie his best Statue of Liberty impression. They have been learning all about New York in school which is pretty cool. He comes home everyday with a new song or fun facts for us. Ella having fun playing dress up. She doesn't get her love for shoes and accessories from her mom, but I am learning! Ella is the groggiest baby in the mornings. Unfortunately this was the precursor to her getting sick. Mom stayed home today with the little princess and dad will take over tomorrow. She has a bacterial infection in her throat and eyes and a nasty cough so it may take a few days to get her back to good. But like Avery, she is a happy sick baby with a surprisingly big appetite. Now if she would just sleep...

Soccer Fun

After last week's rain out, the kids were ready to get back to playing soccer. It's a bit colder than we're used to so everyone was bundled up with coats and blankets. At best it was 60 degrees out at 11:30am but once the kids started playing no one seemed to mind. Here's a few pics of the Fall soccer team - the Dragons! Avery took charge of the ball and ran it down the field for a goal! He said he made up his mind that he wanted to play today and we were so proud. While on the sidelines, Avery was a photog again... not too bad, right? Ella sat in my lap for the entire game and enjoyed watching her brother and his team run around. And We're Done!

Yeah, the floors are installed!! They finished up around noon yesterday and we couldn't be happier with how they turned out. I think the kiddos will love them too once they get used to them. Tonight is the 1st night Avery will be sleeping in his "new" room so we'll see how it goes. But here's the pics so you can see for yourself, prior to putting the furniture back in place.

Almost there...

As I sit in my dining room with a mattress to my left and bookcases to my right, I am thrilled to hear the activity that is going on in the front rooms of the house... that's right- wood flooring FINALLY! It has been a long journey and one that I dread to think about doing again but will b/c of the materials I have sitting in my garage for the other rooms of the house. But I know already that this is a good choice for us and Avery especially with his allergies. It's beautiful in it's rough form and can only imagine how great it will look cleaned up with baseboards and furniture installed. Here's a picture of the floor floating from yesterday (a full 1.5 hrs of work on the installers part)and 3 hrs work from this morning with one room almost complete! Stay tuned for the final reveal. And onto what this blog is really about- the kiddos... Here's Avery playing dress up with Ella- he is chasing her with underwear, trying to put it on her head and she is actually laughing through it all! And one more of me and the kiddos which is becoming a morning ritual with both of them sitting in my lap. No complaints from me of course.
