Starting to feel like I am getting out of practice with keeping the blog updated. We're doing something, maybe that's the problem. Lots going on as summer has officially arrived. Avery's last day of kinder was June 2nd and I can't believe that we now have a 1st grader on our hands. I was very happy to be able to surprise him for lunch on his last day and I think by the size of his smile, he was happy about it too.
(Not so happy I forgot my personal phone - so this is the best the blackberry could muster)
Friday we had a mother/son day which included a trip to the IMAX theater to see Pirates of the Carribean in 3D. Never having seen a movie in 3D before, I will say it was well worth the extra money. Plus we were feeling pretty special in our 3D glasses!
The rest of the weekend the kids and I played and worked around the house while daddy was in Naples visiting Grandpa Bob. Much needed prayers for him...
Ella just loves parading around in her heels with as many accessories as she can carry. And we can thank Avery for her lovely poses, everything is silly these days.
She has become a master at blowing bubbles; remembering back to when she would get so frustrated trying to do so that she would cry and throw a fit. She's become so independent over the past few months and I am hoping that the BIG change will be potty trained by the end of the summer. It's frustrating that between us and daycare, we are so out of sync. When we get a good streak going at home, they stop training at school bc there's something going around like foot and mouth so they have to stop for sanitary reasons. We'll get it though, I have faith.
Avery started summer camp on Monday and seems to have already made the adjustment. Tuesdays is swim day and they have a field trip somewhere new and exciting once a week. He has 1 or 2 friends from his kinder class in his camp and a few older kids from his elementary school. But he's also making new friends from other schools which I encourage.
Summer for me is always the hardest and makes me seriously believe that 3/4 of the women in this world are either stay at home mothers or teachers... daycare and camps are so empty, it's kinda scary and depressing and makes me wish I could be at home with them both. I'm just looking forward to July when Wade is off for the month and we have all kinds of fun things lined out for them. (Working mom guilt has to rear its ugly head at least twice a year it seems.)
But we're having lots of fun on the weekends and whenever else we can. Here's a pic of Avery and Caleb, taken during a Memorial Day cookout at Aunt Steph and Uncle Andy's house.

So excited about our yearly photos of the kids taken this week. They are getting so big and their personalities were exploding during the session which included indoor and outdoor pics. They really had a good time sitting on the hood of the rusted Chevy outside the studio. These pictures should have a real rustic, Texas feel and can't wait to see the results next month (yes, a full month!!) Here's a couple candid pics taken on the patio as we were leaving.
A trip to Guadalupe State Park on Father's Day... despite the drought, there was enough water to have a great time playing in the river skipping rocks, building dams and catching minnows. A relaxing afternoon in the sun (trying to beat the 102 degree temps) is just what we needed. It was Ella's 1st trip to the river and she was convinced it was the beach. Oh boy, is she gonna be excited the 1st time her toes touch the FL sand! The highlight was being able to get them from the car to their beds, still sleeping, which allowed Wade and I to enjoy a quiet meal together and take a 2 hr nap! I can't tell you the last time we've been able to take an afternoon nap together but we're talking years! And to daddy, the kids adore you, it's very apparent and so do I. Happy Father's Day sweetie!

It's become the ritual to play outside after dinner; just before the night-time routine begins. Ella loves to go fast in the Gator, making a lap around the yard and then stopping to say "Mom, take picture of me!" She does it with every lap and it cracks me up. And better yet, she knows if I am really taking a picture or just pretending with my camera phone. At 2 1/2, too smart to try and outsmart. Boy are we in trouble.

In true Ella fashion, she eventually settled down and let Ms. Clarissa go to work but only when SHE was ready! She loved the end result - a dum-dum sucker and a balloon, while I loved the hair!
She did such an awesome job, thanks Clarissa! (Oh, and the beads were all Ella's doing.)
