For being one of the most stressful weeks professionally for mom, we had a BIG week at home with the family. And I'm not talking about tropical storm Hermine and the 7 inches of rain in 36 hours we received making the daily commutes oh-so fun. (Gained a whole new respect for anyone who has been through a hurricane, how miserable!) I'm talking about Ella, who pee-peed on the potty for the 1st time on Thursday morning!! She has been showing major signs of interest in the potty the past few weeks (or at least she's using it as excuse to be able to pull per pull-ups off and run around bottomless!) She hasn't wet her diaper overnight for quite some time so in the mornings she waits about 10 minutes and then overflows her diaper. So we've (or should I say Wade mostly) has been encouraging her to sit on the potty in the mornings. Needless to say it was an awesome start to a Thursday; however, she hasn't done it since. We'll keep trying.
Thursday night Avery had his 1st t-ball practice. Thanks to daddy we have one pic of him in his Cubbies hat, fitting as they are called the Cubs!! His 1st game is Saturday the 18th and I can't wait to see him out there with his team, smashing the ball! Fingers crossed that we have found a sport that he really likes and won't be shy about participating in. So far so good!
Friday morning Avery surprised me and decided to walk down the stairs and into school by himself! I almost cried but held back the tears as he asked me to lean down and gave me a kiss before he left. Ahhh. Avery seems to take longer to adjust to new environments but once he is comfortable, all I can say is LOOK OUT SCHOOL! he will be owning the place before we know it, just like he did at daycare. Let's hope next week we are just as brave!
Wade took Avery with him to Round Rock to attend a football game and the dedication of the new stadium to Kelley Reeves, the father of one of Wade's long time friends on Friday night. The turnout was amazing and the game was lots of fun. Avery made dad leave the cozy box and go out in the stands so he could see the game better. He loved the band too. They stayed at Aunt Shelly's Friday and Saturday night. Shelly took Avery to see GG and they went swimming at GG's pool for the 1st time. He even got to play with Bella at Mandy and Josh's Saturday night. What a fun filled weekend for the boys!
Ella and I had an awesome girls weekend, thinking we should do this more often! Friday night we stayed up later than normal, swinging in the backyard of course. Saturday was all about dress up. While mom was reorganizing Ella's closet, she pulled out everything possible and made her own outfits. There were too many shoe changes to count! Later that day we went to the Magik Theater to see their last play of the 2009-2010 season, A Year with Frog and Toad. I had to take a picture of the set- it was pretty amazing. The pic doesn't do it justice. She was great as usual but lost interest halfway through and just wanted to curl up on mom and nap. After the show we did some shopping, then it was back to the house to play. More than anything I just think she enjoyed having the house to herself and I enjoyed not hearing her scream bc Avery was doing something she didn't like every few minutes!
But it was a happy reunion when they got home Sunday afternoon. It was playtime in mom and dads room with the duvet- Ella trying to pose for pics like her brother!
Finally, Avery gave in! It's so sweet how my big 5 year old boy still loves his monk-monk!
